Our purpose
Here at Blissful L&S Labs, we plan a litter when we are ready for our next generation of puppies. We are a preservation breeder and we do this with the betterment of the breed in mind, and are always looking to the future, and how this will best reflect down the line. We keep in mind that we want dogs to be healthy, have predictable characteristics, and be smart. We pay close attention to the breed standard. We believe breeding dogs is a combination of both art and science. We educate ourselves on new testing protocols, research pedigrees, especially genetic traits and then take our years of knowledge and experience to plan the litter.
We want to give the dogs we breed the best success in whatever venue and a long, healthy life along with being a loving member of your family.

Puppy developmental and socializing.
We do something called Neurological Stimulation at the young age of 3 days old till 2 weeks old. Check out this link for more info from AKC. https://www.akc.org/expert-advice/dog-breeding/breeder-puppy-socialization-early-neurological-stimulation/
I have found this to be a great developmental stage for growing puppies and know we have smarter puppies because of it.
The key to ensuring that your puppy will quickly become a happy, well-adjusted family member. For the first 4 weeks, litters are raised in our puppy nursery. Our puppies spend the first four weeks in a whelping box with music and toys that are changed out as they reach various stages.
After 4-5 weeks, they move to our bigger puppy nursery which is a 12 by 12 room and has access to our play area that includes a jungle gym, and lots of toys that are changed out regularly. Training starts when puppies are 4-5 weeks old which includes table stacking so they get used to standing.
We evaluate the puppies at 6 and 8 weeks. Our puppies do go home at 8 weeks of age. At that time we find that they are ready to leave the nest and start their next chapter in their lives
What's the height of our Labradors?
At the withers for a dog (male) is 22½ to 24½ inches; for a dam (female) is 21½ to 23½ inches
What's the weight of our Labradors?
Approximate weight of dogs and dams in working condition: dogs 65 to 80 pounds; 55 to 70 pounds.
What colors are Labradors?
Labradors truly only come in three colors and they are black, yellow (shading from white to fox red color) and chocolate.
Please do not fall for any marketing terms stating “silver, white, or fox red” at the end of the day AKC papers will only say black, yellow, or chocolate.
Pricing for puppies,

Deposit and waiting list information
A $350.00 non-refundable deposit is required to get put on our waiting list. What does non-refundable mean ? If a puppy of color or sex is NOT born to your wants, your deposit is then carried over to the next litter that would have the color and sex you prefer.
Just because you have a deposit with us doesn't mean it locks in any type of pricing. Puppy pricing can go up at anytime. We all hate inflation and believe it or not it does happen to breeders as well..
After you have refused 3 puppy offerings your deposit is forfeited.
Before making a deposit
You will be required to read and go over our puppy health guarantee and sales agreement before moving forward with a deposit

Puppy color, sexes and Timeframes.
We wish we had a crystal ball but we don't - Breeders have no control over your timeframe of wanting a puppy long with no control of how many of what color or sexes are born, hence why we ask for a couple different options when placing your deposit.
Having a second choice of color and/or sex which of course could increase your chances of getting a puppy from a particular litter if your first choice is not available. Please keep in mind that most of our puppies are sold BEFORE they are born.
Example #1: If you are 3rd on my waiting list for a yellow male and only 2 yellow males are born then either your second choice sex or color comes into consideration, and IF you don't have a second option then your deposit gets carried over to the next litter.
Example #2: If you are 3rd on the waiting list for yellow males and there are 5 yellow males born then on pick up day the two families that have deposits before you get to pick their puppy before you.
Kennel visitation prior to sending a deposit.
We do not allow regular visitations merely because of spreading disease that can easily do harm to very young or older dogs and our time.
We spend tons of time training and caring for our puppies. If we had visitors all the time, that would shorten our time doing what we love.
Puppy visitations
We schedule puppy picking visits at about 4-5 weeks, and people choose puppies based on the order in which their deposit was received.
Puppy pick up is 8 weeks old.
We will send a date and time, and thats when you will pick your puppy up.
If you need your puppy to stay past scheduled pick up day boarding fee per day is $20.00.
Vaccines
Depending on the age of your puppy, it will have all the proper puppy vaccination for their age. We will provide you with a detailed vaccination and worming protocol to share with your veterinarian. We suggest that you reach out to your veterinarian in regards to their vaccination protocol when you go for your puppy wellness check.
Schedule your puppy appointment once I have communicated a puppy pick up day. We do require puppies to be seen by your vet within 72 hours of pick up. Please keep in mind vets are very busy and booked and trying to get an appointment last minute might not happen.
Worming
Our puppies receive regular preventative deworming to avoid any parasitic issues. This ensures your puppy comes with a settled stomach and dormant issues that could surprise you just after your puppy gets home. We worm them with Pyrantel regularly from 2-7 weeks and then use Fenbendazole at 8-9 weeks before they go home. Once you take your puppy home, we recommend you take a stool sample to your veterinarian on your first visit. Do not be surprised if they still show signs of parasites. Your veterinarian can advise you on a recommended program for future deworming of your puppy.
Microchip
Your puppy will come with a microchip and a lifelong registry through petkey. If by chance you move please let me know your new address so our records can be updated.
Our recommendation for spay and neutering
Twenty to 24 months is the soonest for alteration. Current research has shown that Labradors need hormones to grow slowly and properly.
Food recommendations
Puppies - Dimond Natural puppy or Pro Plan puppy formula or any of the high quality foods that THAT DOES NOT CONTAIN SOY!
Take Home Information For Our New Puppy Owners
Have patience, as it may take your puppy several days to adjust to their new surroundings.
Your puppy is eating three meals a day. At each of their meals they're eating 1-1.5 cups of Dimond Natural Puppy Formula. You will receive a bag once you pick up your puppy. If you choose to feed another brand, we would recommend Pro Plan puppy formula, or any of the high quality foods. THAT DOES NOT CONTAIN SOY!
Soy is common in dog food because it is a cheap source of protein compared to meat and maximizes profit to the company. But bear in mind that the canine in the wild is a carnivore, and is not given to eating beans as their primary source of protein. We have found that it contributes to poor coat quality in many Labrador bloodlines -- sometimes amounting to an almost allergic reaction -- and also has been questioned as having a possible link to "bloat", which is a potential life-threatening condition affecting the gastro-intestinal tract. We do, however, encourage a little supplemental feeding of vegetables like carrots, green beans, etc., as a source of fiber.
Home Adjustment
Until your puppy becomes adjusted to their new surroundings they should be fed in a quiet and rather secluded place where they can be alone. After they have become adjusted to their new home and is eating all of their meals well, they can be fed in the kitchen or outside. Give the puppy 20 minutes to eat their food and then pick up the dish. Food should not be offered again until their next feeding time. Do not leave uneaten food in the dish after the 20 minutes are up. Fresh, clean water should, of course, be available at all times.
Labradors, as a breed, have hip problems as they are fast maturing, heavy bodied dogs. These hip problems can be environmentally influenced a great deal. Earlier we cautioned against overfeeding your puppy. The more weight they are forced to carry at a young age, the more stress is placed over the hind quarters and thus the hip sockets are strained. Also, try not to let your puppy run around on linoleum or slippery floors. If you watch your puppy on a slippery floor, you will see that their hind legs will slide out from under them and they end up with all four legs going in different direction. This again puts too much stress on those joints. Likewise, too much exercise for a puppy is bad. They can play in the back yard with you and the kids all they want, but running after a bicycle or following a jogger for miles, especially on pavement, should really be saved until they are close to 2 years old and fully mature. A person matures at such a rate that all their bones and muscles take up to 20 years to form. A dog has all their bones and muscles formed by the end of their first 14 months or so... they have to take it sort of slow. Many of puppy’s have been structurally damaged by owners who insist on jogging with their dog or working strenuously in the field before the puppy is mature enough to handle this kind of orthopedic stress.
Thank You so much for reading our litter information page. It’s a lot to read but we are very passionate about what we do and we want to be an open book for you so that you feel 100% confident about being part of the Blissful &S family. Please feel free to call on us if we can be helpful in any way. We hope that you and your new puppy will have many happy and healthy years together.
